We spent a beautiful spring afternoon hiking in Hawkins Pond County Park. We hiked around the pond, through the bamboo grove and into the adjoined state forest to the overlook and back. There were some areas that were rather muddy, but this is a great place for a quiet getaway and a good hike. Around midday on a weekend there were only four to five cars in the parking lot and we only saw a couple people on the trails. Be aware that there is little to no cell service in the area.
